Layhill Animal Hospital

My family have been going to this vet for over 20 years. They have treated many of our cats over the years and they always are professional and show a great degree of care for the pets. They are kind of expensive, but most vets are. It’s nice that it is locally owned and not a corporate chain. I trust Dr.Adleman and feel lucky to have this so close by.

I felt completely ripped off. Layhill charged me $325 for a Cytopoint injection for my 88 lb dog. My previous veterinarian charges $194 for the exact same medication, including administration, and offers a take-home option that reduces the cost to $159. That's a difference of more than $130 for the same medication. I specifically asked whether I could take the medication home and administer it myself to reduce the cost, but was told the price would remain $325 regardless. There was no discount and no flexibility. When I asked why the price was so much higher, the only explanation I received was, "that's what we charge." I had also been quoted a lower price over the phone the day before, but no one could explain why the actual charge was higher. The staff was polite, but the pricing felt excessive and the lack of transparency was unacceptable. If cost matters to you, I would strongly recommend comparing medication prices with other local veterinarians before agreeing to treatment here. I will not be returning to Layhill.

Another terrible experience with Layhill!! Please do not go here and tell your friends/family not to bring their beloved pets here. They do not even deserve 1 star. This recent experience confirmed the decision I had already made not to return to Layhill Animal Hospital. After being charged an outrageous $325 for a Cytopoint injection that my previous veterinarian charges $194 for (including administration), I left several messages asking to speak with someone about the pricing. My calls were never returned. Shortly afterward, I ordered my dog's NexGard through Chewy. The prescription request was denied with the message: "Your veterinarian couldn't find you or your pet in their system to approve this item." This was astonishing because Layhill had examined and treated my dog only weeks earlier and charged me for that visit. I called the office to explain the situation and asked the doctor to approve the prescription based on the recent exam. The doctor refused out of pettiness (in my opinion). The excessive medication pricing, failure to return multiple phone calls, and refusal to approve a prescription after recently examining my dog demonstrated a complete lack of professionalism and customer care. Their handling of this situation was absolutely infuriating. In my experience, this office showed little regard for its clients once payment was collected. Save yourself the frustration and take your pet to a veterinary practice that values transparency, fair pricing, and customer service. STAY AWAY FROM HERE.

My regular Vet was booked and this hospital was the only place with an opening...now I see why. TOO expensive! The African-American lady was very nice and pleasant.
